La Bella Durmiente

Situated at 42º 3' South latitude and 72º 3' West longitude, at the doors of the Andean Region of Parallel 42,
El Maitén is a prticular point of patagonian geography.

In a valley worked by glaciers erosion and crossed by Chubut river, this little village of 3.500 inhabitants enjoys the privilege to be the exact transition point between the Andean Forest and the Andean Steppe.

This fact makes the difference with the other villages of the region, that makes of El Maiten a particular site by the marked diversity of its landscapes and ecosystems.

You can arrive to El Maitén by routes, all of them not asphalted, but that connects with the principal tourism distribution centers of Patagonia. None of non-asphalted ways is major than 50Km.
